Photographs I took of Jhon Durán was used on Sports.ru to illustrate their extensive long-form feature tracing the Colombian striker’s controversial career — from his breakthrough in England with Aston Villa, through his short-lived Saudi Arabian adventure at Al-Nassr, his turbulent stint at Fenerbahçe, and his ultimately surprising move to Zenit St. Petersburg, published in February 2026.
Sports.ru is Russia’s dominant sports media platform, attracting tens of millions of readers across the Russian-speaking world, and a welcome addition to the ever-growing international reach of my photography.
The photograph used by Sports.ru was taken pitch-side during the 2026 Turkish Super Cup final between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in Istanbul, a high-voltage derby that Fenerbahçe won. The image captures Jhon Durán lifting the Super Cup trophy — a frame that perfectly illustrates his turbulent but trophy-laden spell at the club before his unexpected move to Zenit St. Petersburg.
Photographing a player of Durán’s profile — a powerful, dynamic striker who played in the Premier League, Saudi Arabia, and Turkish football before heading to Russia — means building a visual archive that follows a career across multiple countries and competitions. That kind of long-term coverage is precisely what makes individual images valuable to international media outlets months after they were taken.
As a UEFA-accredited sports photographer based in Istanbul, I covered Fenerbahçe throughout their 2025–26 season across the Turkish Süper Lig, UEFA Europa League, and domestic cup competitions. My work is distributed internationally via AFP and Getty Images.
